GUMBS LAUNCHES INTO WORLD’S TOP 35 IN SHOT PUT

Virgin Islands Djimon Gumbs vaulted himself into the top 35 of the current world rankings with a record-shattering performance in the shot put at the Texas Tech Corky/Crofoot Shootout last Thursday.

He threw 20.29 meters (66′-7″) to win the event, surpassing John Campbell’s long-standing all-time mark of  20.03m (65′-8.75″) set back in 1982.

The performance elevated Gumbs to No. 34 in the latest world rankings for the 2024 season. He also now ranks No. 4 among all NCAA shot putters.
