Praise pours in as National Health Insurance celebrates 10 years with community health fair

The National Health Insurance (NHI) received commendation and praise from residents on Wednesday as it celebrated its 10th anniversary with a health fair and expo aimed at showcasing services and promoting wellness across the Virgin Islands.

The anniversary event brought together a wide range of healthcare providers who displayed their services and engaged directly with the public.

Residents were able to learn more about the benefits available through NHI while also taking advantage of free on-site health screenings and tests, including basic checks such as blood pressure and glucose testing.

Many attendees expressed appreciation for the initiative, describing the fair as informative and beneficial to the community. Several residents thanked NHI for organizing the event and for its continued role in improving access to healthcare over the past decade.

“I think they are doing an excellent job NHI. I have done pressure and blood sugar and I’ll try and do whatever can be done today,” explained one woman.

While the overall response was positive, at least one attendee noted that the event could have benefited from wider promotion.

The man, who said he was grateful for the services offered, added that more residents might have attended if the fair had been advertised more extensively ahead of time

“Interesting health fair, I just think it wasn’t advertised enough and it’s only one day it should have been two because a lot of people don’t have [know] what’s going on here,” he explained.

NHI officials highlighted the fair as part of their ongoing commitment to public education, prevention, and accessible healthcare for the Virgin Islands population.
