MAN CHARGED FOLLOWING MACHETE ATTACK OUTSIDE LONG BUSH NIGHTCLUB

A 23-year-old man has been charged following a violent disturbance involving a machete outside a popular nightclub in Long Bush.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force identified the suspect as Shavoy Dascent of Josiah’s Bay.

Dascent has been charged with Causing Grievous Bodily Harm with Intent and Armed with an Offensive Weapon. The incident occurred shortly after midnight on June 1, 2024.

According to police reports, officers responded to a call about a disturbance and found that an altercation had taken place between two men. During the confrontation, one of the men, armed with a machete, injured the other.

The injured man was rushed to Dr. D Orlando Smith Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. He is currently in stable but serious condition.

Shavoy Dascent remains in custody pending his appearance at the Magistrate’s Court.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force continues to investigate the incident and urges anyone with information to come forward.
