The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has confirmed the identity of the man who was fatally shot in Brewers Bay as local businessman Kai de Castro, the proprietor and owner of Main Street Restaurant.
Police said officers responded to reports of gunfire in the Brewers Bay area and, upon arrival, discovered de Castro with apparent gunshot injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The fatal shooting has sent shockwaves across the Virgin Islands, where de Castro was widely known in the business community.
As the homicide investigation continues, detectives say they are actively pursuing all available leads to determine the circumstances surrounding the killing.
The RVIPF is appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could assist the investigation to contact the Intelligence Unit at 368-9512. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers by calling 800-8477 (TIPS) locally or (284) 800-8477 from overseas.
Police said further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
