BVI TAKES ONE STEP CLOSER TO NORMALCY; CURFEW CONTINUES TO BE RELAXED

As of today, 18th June 2020, the BVI moves towards more relaxed curfew conditions. This was announced by Premier of the Virgin Islands, Hon. Andrew A. Fahie.

He said “Cabinet advised that the National Security Council instruct the Attorney General to draft a new Curfew Order No. 22 of 2020 which takes effect 18 June”

The new curfew order will include more relaxed curfew hours. Curfew will now be imposed from 12:00 a.m.(midnight) to 5:00 a.m.

Curfew Order No. 22 also allows residents to occupy the beach for an additional 2 hours, with beaches now opened from 5:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Private vessels will now be allowed to operate within Territorial waters during full daylight hours from 5:00a.m. to 7:00p.m. and ferries will be allowed to operate within the new curfew hours (5:01a.m. – 11:59p.m.).

There has also been an increase of mass gatherings for faith-based organisations, graduations, weddings and funerals only. The new restriction are one person per 64 square feet, up to a maximum of 100 people.

Premier Fahie said in his statement ” As we continue to move forward in a controlled way, I want to encourage all of us not to let down our guard. “

He added ” I am asking all of us to do our part. Let us all continue to encourage each other. As we continue in this New Regular living and working with COVID-19, let us continue to be proactive.  Let us continue to work in oneness of purpose. Let us stay informed and remain laser-focused. Each of us has a role to play to help our economy and to keep us safe. “
