MORE RECOVERIES IN THE BVI; MORE BUSINESSES PERMITTED TO OPEN AS OF TODAY!

Since the Health Minister’s last address on Thursday evening, the Territory has recorded additional recoveries.

Minister for Health and Social Development Honourable Carvin Malone has reported that the total active COVID-19 cases in the Territory have decreased to twenty eight (28).

Honourable Malone explained that as of September 11th, 2020, a total of 34 additional persons tested; which resulted in thirty two (32) negatives that included seven (7) recoveries and the two (2) new positive results.

This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases recorded in the Territory to sixty six (66), the total active COVID-19 cases to twenty eight (28), the total number of recoveries to thirty seven (37) and the total number of death being one (1) person.

After these positive developments, Cabinet has met and advised that the National Security Council to instruct the Attorney General to amend the Curfew Order, to allow more businesses to operate as of September 12th, between the hours of 5:00a.m. and 1:00p.m. daily.

All business in the Territory are permitted to open except salons, hairdressers, barbershops, restaurants for in-service dining, bars, night clubs and pubs. Those businesses are to remain closed until further notice.

All businesses allowed to operate will be subject to inspection by the Social Distancing Monitoring Task Force and certification by the Environmental Health Division.

The previous curfew hours, from 1:00p.m. to 5:00a.m., will remain in effect.
