DR. ARLENE SMITH THOMPSON IS NEW HLSCC VICE PRESIDENT

Word reaching our newsroom from senior sources within the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College is that former Virgin Islands Party Candidate Dr. Arlene Smith Thompson has been appointed as the new Vice President of the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College. Her appointment took effect October 1st, 2020 for a period of 3 years.

Dr. Smith Thompson, a first time candidate who ran unsuccessful in the most recent general elections under the Virgin Islands Party in the 3rd District, has served the public service in various capacities for some 25 years, most notably as an Educator and former Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Communications and Works.

She is also the Managing Director of Cadwell Consulting VI, an Education, Policy and Research Consultancy Company.

Among other duties, as Vice President she is responsible for Academic Affairs.

Dr. Richard Georges former Vice President, now sitting President of HLSCC appointment also took effect October 1st, 2020 for 3 years.

Mrs. Fiona Forbes Vanterpool who served as Vice Chairman, is now the Chairman of the Board of Governors effective October 1st, 2020 for 1 year, following the resignation of Mr. John Samuel.

Dr. L. Sauda Underwood-Smith now serves as Deputy Chair of the Board of Governors.
