SERVING POLICE OFFICER IMPLICATED IN LARGEST DRUG SEIZURE IN BVI HISTORY

A few moments ago, Police Commissioner, Mr. Michael Matthews and The Governor of the Virgin Islands, Augustus J. U. Jaspert, in a joint press conference divulged the details of a major drug bust.

On Friday 6th November 2020, The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) conducted a covert operation due to a search warrant. The operation was carried out at a residence in the Balsam Ghut.

After searching the premise a large quality of illegal drugs and two illegal firearms were discovered .

What was reported as the largest drug seizure in BVI history, the RVIPF discovered 2,353 kilos (2.3 metric tons) of cocaine. The drugs found has a conservative street value of $250 million dollars.

Persons were seen fleeing the scene at the time of the bust, subsequently two persons were arrested. The two individuals were two brothers; Liston Davis, 40 and Daren Davis, 41.

Commissioner of Police, Mr. Michael Matthews, confirmed that Mr. Daren Davis was a serving police officer of the RVIPF for over 20 years.

The two brothers were charged with offenses; possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply, 3 counts each and possession of illegal firearms.
