RODNEY SIMMONDS SR AND ANDREW SKERRITT IDENTIFIED AS MEN WHO DIED

Officials of the Royal Virgin Islands police force have officially named the victims of Fridays deaths, which are being termed as a suspected murder suicide. They are; prominent BVI business man and horse race enthusiast Mr. Rodney Simmonds of Threadfall and Mr. Andrew Skerritt of Carrot Bay.

Mr. Simmonds was found and pronounced dead at his home, while the body of Mr. Skerritt was found and pronounced dead at his home in Carrot Bay.

While suspicions loom as to what exactly lead to the death of both men, and many in the community are calling it a crime of passion, detectives of the Royal Virgin Islands police force say they are actively continuing their investigations into the circumstances which lead to their deaths.

Officials say both fatal shootings are believed to be related and do not pose any threat to the wider BVI. The deaths are also the first of its kind for 2021.

Reports reaching our newsroom indicates that a prominent businessman in the BVI community was found dead in his home at Threadfall, Tortola.

It appears that the victim’s body was found with gunshot wounds.

Another male was found dead in the Carrot Bay, Tortola, shortly after the businessman was found dead.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force has confirmed the death of both males. The circumstances surrounding these incidences are under investigation.
