GOVERNMENT TO LAUNCH YOUTH CENTER ON APRIL 9TH

Young persons from across the Virgin Islands will have a space to share, grow and create in a safe and innovative environment with the launch of a Be YOUth Centre on April 9.

The centre will be launched by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports and will offer development programmes including resume’ writing, team building, interviewing skills, time management, graphic design, production, trade skill workshops, and other fields related to young people.

Director of Youth Affairs and Sports, Mrs. Brenda Lettsome-Tye said, “The Be YOUth Centre will be a key resource for our youth and will be the first of a series of youth centres that we hope to open throughout the entire Virgin Islands including our sister islands.”

The centre will be accessible to registered persons between the ages of 15 to 29. Registration forms are located on the department’s page on the Government’s website or by using the link http://bvi.gov.vg/services/be-youth-centre

Additionally, registered Be YOUth Centre users will be able to access the core services for a monthly fee of $10 a month. They include:

  • Cyber Café with free WiFi
  • The Professional Job Search
  • Big Thinkers Innovation and ICT
  • The Teacher is In: School Support
  • Technical Vocational Introductory Courses
  • Entrepreneurship Training
  • Culture, Creative and Performing Arts, Sports and Recreation
  • Succeeding in Life, Life Skills
  • Youth Empowerment and Outreach
