FSI’S “FIRST STEP SCHOLARSHIP” AWARDED TO CHENAYE DUNCAN!

In line with FSI’s mission to support the development of local talent in the Territory’s financial services industry, the Financial Services Institute at H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (FSI) launched the inaugural First Step Scholarship in February 2021.

The First Step Scholarship is a fully funded scholarship for study of the ACCA Level 2 Diploma in Financial and Management Accounting, taught at the FSI.

Open to any BVIslander or Belonger with the ambition and drive to begin their journey to professional accreditation, applicants were invited to submit three short essay questions setting out how the First Step Scholarship would make a difference to their future, what motivates them and how they would overcome the challenges of completing a professional qualification.

FSI received competitive applications and candidates made strong cases for consideration, with a range of passionate responses. However, after deliberation, FSI is pleased to announce that the First Step Scholarship 2021 is awarded to Ms Chenaye Duncan. In her application she describes herself as an “enthusiastic and ambitious BVIslander” and notes “Acquiring an education is vital… never stop learning and encourage yourself to become your very best self for the future”.

As a result of her success, Ms. Duncan will have all institute fees, exam costs, materials and tuition fully funded by this scholarship from the FSI. She will also receive support from a local expert professional tutor. The team at FSI will make this scholarship available on an annual basis for aspiring and ambitious BVIslanders and Belongers. Congratulations and every success is offered to Ms. Duncan.
