PUBLIC CONSULTATIONS ON PIECES OF LEGISLATION CONTINUE TODAY

The Government of the Virgin Islands is hosting a series of public meetings on four proposed pieces of legislation starting on Monday, May 3.

The pieces of the legislations that will be discussed are Contractor General Act, 2021, Whistleblowers Act, 2021, Police Act, 2019 and Integrity in Public Life Act, 2021.

The discussion will be led by Premier and Minister of Finance, Honourable Andrew A. Fahie who will be accompanied by a team of experts. The meetings will feature presentations on the contents of the proposed Acts and will also include a segment for commentary from the public.

Premier Fahie said, “These consultation meetings are part of the Government’s vision to building these Virgin Islands together with the people. I am inviting residents to come out and let their voices be heard as these pieces of legislation will chart the course and improve various aspect of our lives and the further the development of our Territory.”

The legislations will be presented to the public before their second and third readings in the Virgin Islands House of Assembly. The proposed Acts are available on the Government of the Virgin Islands website, bvi.gov.vg for review.
