FOOD BUSINESSES REMINDED OF PROPER HANDLING PRACTICES

The Environmental Health Division is reminding food businesses that proper handling of food prevents food borne illnesses as well as acute gastroenteritis following reports of unsafe food handling practices at a local food business.

The unit in a statement said that on Wednesday, May 26 at approximately 3:20 p.m., it was alerted of a video depicting unsafe food handling practices at a local food business, which could have led to food borne illnesses in customers.

According to the statement, the Division swiftly responded and ordered the food business to cease all food handling operations until corrective measures are put in place.

Food establishments are reminded to practice food safety by separating raw and cooked food when storing, cooking foods thoroughly, keeping food at safe temperatures and using safe water and raw materials.
