PROMINENT POLICE OFFICER’S SON CHARGED FOR ATTEMPTING TO SMUGGLE MARIJUANA INTO HER MAJESTY’S PRISON FOR INMATE

The son of a prominent police officer was caught trying to smuggle marijuana into Her Majesty’s Prison at Balsam’s Ghut on Monday June 21st, 2021.

According to reports, the man concealed the illegal substance within a bowl of food.

The accused has since been charged according to official comments from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force.

Information officer of the RVIPF, Diane Drayton said “Glenville Callwood, 26, of Baughers Bay was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled drug. He was granted bail for his later appearance at Magistrate’s Court.”

In an earlier invited comment, Ms. Drayton disclosed that the “cannabis was found among items he had brought for an inmate at the prison.”

REPEAT OFFENDER

This is not the perpetrator’s first run in with the law.

In 2016 he was found guilty of threatening to kill a cop and sentenced to two years and four months in prison.

Overseeing Magistrate Ms Tamia Richards further activated a suspended sentence for an unrelated burglary committed in 2012.
