BVI HEALTH SERVICES INTRODUCE QR CODE TO SPEED UP COVID-19 TESTING & RESULTS DELIVERY

The British Virgin Islands Health Services Authority (BVIHSA) has introduced an innovative personalized Quick Response Code (QR), which allows for persons requiring COVID-19 testing to register and receive their test results faster.

This initiative is being piloted at the Althea Scatliffe Primary School and is expected to be rolled out Territory wide soon.  The pilot programme which commenced this week has been progressing well; and so far, users have shared favorable reviews with the BVIHSA.

This process commences with the provision of a QR code printout, which once scanned using a smart phone, will transport the user to a registration platform.  Once the registration is complete, the user will receive a confirmation code, which will then be scanned for verification prior to testing.  The results will then be sent by email from the details already captured via the QR Confirmation Code into our computer system.

The BVIHSA has also ensured that the location is equipped with WIFI access to make it easier to connect to the platform.  For persons who do not have access to a smart phone they can also register online at https://althea.bvi.care and secure a printed copy with their confirmation code.  Those who are unable to register via phone or online will still be tested. Staff will register you, and you can request a printed copy of your test result.

The public is reminded that there are varying processing times for the approved COVID-19 tests. Antigen (rapid) tests are generally processed within a 15-minute period while PCR tests are processed within a 24-to-36-hour period.

The BVIHSA Department of Information and Technology introduced the COVID-19 SMS Results Service to help the public get faster, more convenient access to testing and results, given the demand for COVID-19 tests throughout the territory.

Director of the Department of Information Technology at the BVIHSA Mr. Mikey Farara explained; “using this new process, will help in reducing the time a patient is processed during their COVID-19 testing appointment, while speeding up the turn-around for individuals receiving their results.”  He further added that the QR Code system will minimize the possibility of errors.”

If you have an upcoming appointment for COVID-19 Testing at the Althea Scatliffe Primary School, you can commence the registration process by using your smartphone to scan the QR Code below.
