ACTIVE COVID-19 CASES RISE TO 66 WITH 7 HOSPITALISATIONS – CURFEW EXTENDED FOR ANOTHER 14-DAYS

COVID-19 cases in the British Virgin Islands have recorded yet another increase from the previously reported 50, to now 66 active positive cases, while the curfew is extended for another 14-days.

This was revealed in a dashboard report from the BVI Health Services Authority on September 3, which said a total of 30 new cases were recorded, as well 14 recoveries.

Of the 66 cases, 51 are on Tortola, 11 on Virgin Gorda and 4 on Jost Van Dyke.

The epidemiological report further revealed that 16 of the cases are local, 11 contacts of cases, 12 from entry screening day zero, 1 from entry screening day four, 15 from entry screening day seven, 1 from entry screening day fourteen and 10 from travel screening.

The report also revealed an increase in hospitalisations from the previously announced 5, to now 7 persons. All 7 are unvaccinated.

Meanwhile the curfew in the territory has been further extended for another 14-days from today September 4, and will remain between the hours of 11pm to 5am daily until September 18.
