SPIKE IN THEFT OF GENERATORS AND TOOLS – RVIPF URGES RESIDENTS TO SECURE PROPERTY

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force is recording an uptick in thefts of generators and tools left around private properties and road sides unattended.

This week, one resident of Hodge’s Creek reported three generators stolen from her property, while a contractor reported a generator stolen from his construction site. Weed eaters and blowers were also reported stolen from contractors engaging in roadside cleanup.

While police are following several leads into suspected culprits, persons are asked to ensure that valuable items stored outside homes and sheds are secured when not in use. Opportunistic thieves look for items such as generators and tools which can easily be stolen from premises.

Police are asking persons with information that could help in identifying the perpetrators of these thefts to contact the RVIPF through its three-digit access number 311 or the Intelligence Unit at 368-9339.
