TWO PRISON OFFICERS AND ONE POLICE OFFICER CHARGED FOR BREACH OF TRUST IN NICHAIL CHAMBERS MURDER

Two prison officers and one police officer are among the latest persons charged in relation to the recent murder of Nichail Chambers and attempted murder of another inmate.

This is according to a media release from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force dated Wednesday September 29, which said the three officers were all arrested and charged for breach of trust into the matter.

Charged were prison officers Mark Kendall and Sharlene Maduro and formerly interdicted police officer Karina Brea.

All three persons will appear in court at a future date.

Earlier this month, five inmates were charged in the murder of Chambers with two of the five also charged with attempted murder.

Chambers, 29, was among four that sustained injuries in an altercation on the evening of May 30 at the Her Majesty’s Prison in Balsam Ghut. The four were treated at the Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital, however Chambers subsequently died of his injuries.

This RVIPF said that they will continue to bring all those involved in serious crime to justice in order to protect the people, places and communities of the Virgin Islands.
