BACK TO SCHOOL DRIVE: POLITICS IS MORE THAN SUPPORTING YOUR PARTY SUPPORTERS!

In a clear act of community support, Honourable Marlon A. Penn visited two of the three primary schools located in Districts 7 and 8.  During his visit Honourable Penn handed over gift vouchers to both Willard Wheatley Primary and Francis Lettsome Primary schools; in an effort to provide much needed assistance to students attending the primary schools.

The District 8 representative said, “It was indeed a pleasure to visit the schools today, albeit the presentation occurred at a much later date than I would have liked, the vouchers will assist some students with purchasing uniforms, books, and other much needed items.

At the Willard Wheatley Primary School, Honourable Penn shared with the students the significant role teachers play in the life of all students. In singling out Teacher Gloria Donovan, one of the teachers present at the event, the District Representative said, “Teacher Donovan impacted my life in a positive manner from a very young age.”

“She has helped mold me into the man I am today,” Honourable Penn added.

Honourable Penn was accompanied by two members at the Rotary Club in Tortola, who also provided microwaves to both schools.

At the Francis Lettsome Primary School, Hon. Penn stated that the school is one of the first institutions that help to lay the foundation for the present and future generation of this country. In his discourse with the students at both schools, Hon. Penn commented on the importance of education, as they [students] are the natural wealth of the BVI. He further explained to the students the need to respect and obey their teachers.

During the event, the lack of basic facilities conducive to a productive teaching environment was brought to Honourable Penn’s attention to which he promised to address and bring relief to the current issues being faced at the primary schools.

Hon Penn is committed to supporting his community and the wider territory and believes that helping everyone regardless of their political affiliations is the hallmark of a true leader.

Joyce Samuel Primary School staff and students, will be the next recipients of Honourable Penn’s support.
