LIONS CLUB OF TORTOLA DONATES FOUR MICROWAVES TO WILLARD WHEATLEY PRIMARY SCHOOL

Approximately 165 students and 22 faculty members of the Willard Wheatley Primary School will be able to enjoy warm meals during their lunch break following a donation of four new microwaves from the Lions Club of Tortola as part of the Club’s Back to School initiative. 

Speaking at a brief presentation on Monday October 4, Club Director Lion Jasmine Bass-Frett, MJF, said “I am pleased to make this presentation on behalf of the Lions Club of Tortola,to the Principal, faculty and students of the Willard Wheatley Primary School. We hope that these microwaves will greatly assist in helping to provide warm meals to students during their lunch period. In the Lions Club, our motto is ‘Where there is a need, there is a Lion’ and we will continue to assist and support the school, wherever we can.”

In response, Principal of the Willard Wheatley Primary School, Mrs. Enid Penn-Charles expressed appreciation for the microwaves on behalf of the students and teachers of the school and said, “We are grateful for the donation and will put them to good use, as the microwaves will assist with helping to shorten our lunch lines.”

Also present during the handover were Minister for Education, Culture, Youth Affairs, Fisheries and Agriculture, Dr. the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley, and Club President, Lion Kevin Fahie. 

President Fahie shared “As an alumni of the Willard Wheatley Primary School, it was significant to be here as part of the Lions Club of Tortola, supporting the Principal, students and faculty with this donation and helping to create a welcoming atmosphere for their return to the classroom.”

The donations were funded by Traders Choice Limited and Caribbean Cellars, in partnership with the Lions Club of Tortola.
