DISTRICT 7 RESIDENT RECEIVED KEYS TO NEWLY BUILT HOME FROM HOUSING RECOVERY ASSISTANCE PROGRAMME

Seventh District resident Andrew Angus Penn received the keys to a newly built home as part of the Housing Recovery Assistance Programme.

The keys were presented by Minister for Health and Social Development Carvin Malone, Seventh District Representative and Minister for Education, Culture, Youth Affairs, Fisheries and Agriculture Dr. Natalio Wheatley, along with the Housing Recovery Assistance Programme team, Deputy Secretary Greg Massicote and Assistant Secretary Alisia Browne and representatives from the Contractor McMillan Construction on October 14.

Minister Malone expressed that he was delighted to fulfil yet another promise made by his ministry.

He said, “I am extremely pleased that once again we were able to deliver as we have promised in this programme of rebuilding homes and rebuilding lives after the storms of 2017. At the end of the day it is gratifying… and we would like to say congratulations to all those who participated and all those who had a part in making sure that when we come together, we can get things done.”

Dr. Wheatley stated that as a district advances and as the territory advances, partners are needed to be able to make progress.

“Team BVI, everyone achieves more together and the Ministry of Health and the Minister of Health has been an excellent partner to District Seven. I must make mention of his entire team including Greg Massicote and Alisia Browne as well as everyone else on the health team who have been helping to facilitate the recovery of persons’ homes after those devastating 2017 storms,” Dr. Wheatley stated.

Meanwhile, Andrew Angus Penn expressed his gratitude to have moved into his new home.

The Housing Recovery Assistance Programme is designed to help homeowners rebuild in the wake of Hurricanes Irma and Maria in accordance with the provisions of the Virgin Islands Housing Recovery Policy and Hurricane Irma Recovery Plan.
