UNITE BVI FACILITATES 25K GBP DONATION FROM NECKER GUESTS TO BFEC

In fulfilling its purpose to bring together people and resources for community benefit the Unite BVI Foundation, facilitated a 25k GBP donation made by guests of Necker Island for the benefit of the Bregado Flax Educational Centre on Virgin Gorda.

The donation by the Maxwell/ Beamish family and friends was presented to BFEC in early October. These repeat Necker Island guests wanted to give back to the community. In addition to the funds the Beamish/Maxwell family (and many of their friends) donated many suitcases full of new school supplies.

This is not the first time the Beamish/Maxwell families have raised funds for the school, with their previous donations going towards repairs to the primary school playground and having a shade sail structure designed and installed (to be erected post Hurricane Season) for the High School courtyard.

On the recent donation, Unite BVI Foundation Manager Kim Takeuchi commented, “It’s because of generous donors like the Maxwell family that we can scale opportunities to serve our community. We are so grateful to the Maxwell family for their continued support of BFEC.”

Ms. Takeuchi also noted that BFEC was one of the very first beneficiaries of the foundation. When it officially launched in 2017, Unite BVI donated an Early Learning Resource Centre.

The Foundation Manager also referenced that continued partnership with the school is symbolic of Unite BVI’s overarching vision, to “empower generations of world-changers starting right here, with BVI youth.’

Through the partnership with Unite BVI, BFEC has received a number of donations some of them including: musical instruments, science equipment and computer supplies, an Early Learning Childhood Library and Resource Centre, a new septic system and bathrooms for the high school, the rebuilding of Block A roof and structural repairs post Hurricane Irma, and the installation of the largest solar array on a public building in the BVI.
