CIBC FIRST CARIBBEAN REOPENS FOLLOWING TEMPORARY CLOSURE DUE TO A POSITIVE COVID-19 CASE – LIMITED SERVICES EXPECTED UNTIL FRIDAY

CIBC FirstCaribbean has resumed limited services from today Wednesday December 1, following a brief closure due to a positive COVID-19 case.

This was confirmed in a media release from the Road Town Tortola branch, which said it will resume most services, with the exception of in-branch deposits and withdrawals, and the opening of new accounts.

CIBC said they expect to resume all services on Friday, December 3 pending clearance from the BVI Health Services Authority for persons in isolation to return to work.

The bank said that its temporary closure was in accordance with current protocols and directives issued by the Ministry of Health and Social Development, following the detection of a positive COVID-19 case within the confines of the administrative section of the bank.

The bank assured residents that all areas of the bank were thoroughly sanitized before reopening.

“During this time, clients may continue to access their funds at the ABMs at the Wickham’s Cay 1 branch, at the Tortola Pier Park, at the Marcy Building, Port Purcell and at The Boys’ Service Station, Sea Cow’s Bay,” CIBC stated.

“Cash and cheque deposits, credit card payment and loan payments can be conducted at the ABM at the branch at Wickham’s Cay 1. Online Banking and Mobile App services can be used to facilitate transfers, bill payments, check account balance and other transactions,” the bank added.

The management of CIBC FirstCaribbean also apologised for the inconvenience caused and reassured its customers of its continued commitment to work in their best interest and in the interests of the health and safety of the community at large.
