BANCO POPULAR ROAD TOWN BRANCH CLOSED ABRUPTLY DUE TO SUSPECTED DETECTION OF COVID-19 CASES; LARGE NUMBER OF CLIENTS LEFT AWAITING SERVICES; ONLINE BANKING OPTIONS AVAILABLE

Bank officials of Banco Popular Road Town Branch have confirmed today December 30th, 2021 the abrupt closer of the bank due to the suspected detection of Covid-19 cases.

Clients were abruptly meet with a notice of “closed until further notice” sign. It is unclear how long the closure will last.

On December 28th, 2021 Bank officials issued a statement via its social media page informing of reduced services due to the present spike in cases.

The statement said, “To all of our clients: Due to the current increase of COVID-19 cases within the USVI and BVI, starting Wednesday, December 29, 2021, branches and customer service centers will limit client entry to 5 – 10 persons, depending on the facility size and capacity.”

Online banking options

Officials then reminded clients of their online options in order to still access services, stating, “Remember, you can always count on the online banking tools available to conduct transactions such as: Mi Banco Mobile, Mi Banco Online, Mobile Easy Deposit and Mobile Withdrawal. Automated Teller Machines and TeleBanco services will remain available 24 hours, seven days a week. For assistance, you may call 1-888-724-3659. Any additional changes in operations will be notified. Efforts to reach Banco Popular’s head office in St. Thomas for further details were unsuccessful.
