SOUTH AFRICAN MALE IDENTIFIED AS TERRITORY’S FIRST ROAD FATALITY OF 2022

The territory’s first road fatality for 2022 has been identified as a 55-year-old South African male.

He is Henrique David Dos Santos who was a resident of Belmont Estate, West End.

Dos Santos was found unresponsive at the scene of the fatal accident after his motor scooter collided into a SUV in the area of Havers, Tortola around 9am on Tuesday.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force gave the confirmation in a media release today, where they revealed some of the preliminary information received from their investigations.

They said, “Initial inquiries indicate that the collision occurred as the vehicle entered the Sir Francis Drake Highway from a minor road. The deceased was heading east on the same highway.”

The police said that the Road Policing Unit is presently conducting investigations to determine the cause of the collision.
