ACTIVE COVID-19 CASES IN THE BVI DOWN TO 3 – NO LOCAL CASES RECORDED

Active positive COVID-19 cases in the British Virgin Islands are now down to just 3, with no local cases presently recorded.

This is according to Minister for Health and Social Development Honourable Carvin Malone who made the disclosure during the VIP Let’s Talk radio programme last night.

He said the previous positive cases have clinically recovered and the present three cases have all been detected through travel screening.

We’re pleased that we have now three active cases. And the three cases are based on three imports. One from Day 0, and two from Day 7 which means that our protocols have worked. Yes, globally the cases are going down in this western region. In the eastern region, in Hong Kong and so forth it is spiking. They are down to where only two persons can gather,” Malone stated.

He added, “Now I’m saying we have three active cases that exist as we speak. All of the others have been clinically cleared. 62 deaths from the period that we started with this pandemic. Over 60 families who have suffered through this particular pandemic.”

Minister Malone also highlighted the impact that the COVID-19 virus has had on the territory’s golden gems.

He said Cabinet will be returning to meet to discuss the plans going forward for the territory in light of positives of the present COVID situation in the BVI.

He said this display by the territory’s healthcare system is proof enough that the BVI has one of the best managements of COVID-19 globally.
