Three of the eight illegal immigrants who recently escaped the Department of Immigration detention facility have been recaptured.

This is according to the Immigration Department who made the disclosure in a media release on Monday.

The men are Milson Catul, Slovans Semaus, Hermosa Raul.

The department stated, “Three detainees who escaped the Department of Immigration detention facility on Friday, March 11 have been recaptured. The search is still ongoing for the others who remain at large.”

Commenting on the recapture was Chief Immigration Officer Mr. Ian Penn who thanked the public for its support and for providing information which led to the three males being apprehended.

Penn also urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to provide information where necessary that can lead to the recapture of the outstanding persons at large.

The public is reminded that it is an offence to assist or harbor any of the escapees.

Just last Friday, it was reported that a total of 7 detainees including 5 Haitian nationals and 2 Venezuelans escaped immigration custody over a two-day period.

According to the department, the five Haitians at the time were Catul, Semaus, Nicholas Mckenson, Jeff Sherry, and Jni-Baptiste Yeye.

The two Venezuelans reported were Angel Fusil Lugo and Michael Villalobos Moreno.

The Immigration department is asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of the five at large individuals to contact the Immigration Department at 468-4700, 468-4715 or 468-4754 or the Royal Virgin Island Police Force hotline at 311/911.
