52-YEAR-OLD AMERICAN HELD AT AIRPORT WITH LOADED GUN – ALLEGED HE ENTERED THE BVI WITH GUN BUT WAS NOT CHECKED

A 52-year-old American male was arrested at the Terrance B Lettsome International Airport on Beef Island after being found to be in possession of a loaded firearm.

This is according to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) which confirmed via a media release that the incident occurred on Tuesday April 26.

The police said the man entered the British Virgin Islands with the said weapon just five days prior but alleges he was not searched by Immigration nor Customs during his entry.

“Initial enquiries indicate that the male entered the Territory on April 21, in possession of the weapon and was not checked by Immigration or Customs. However, upon trying to depart the Territory on April 26, the weapon was found in his possession, and he was subsequently arrested by the Police stationed at the Airport,” the RVIPF stated.

Police said enquiries are ongoing into the matter.
