OLEANVINE MAYNARD INVOKES RIGHT TO STAY SILENT

According to international reports, 

BVI Ports Authority Director Oleanvine Maynard who is presently in federal custody facing charges related to conspiracy to import cocaine along with money laundering has, through her public defender invoked her right to remain silent.

Maynard has been in federal custody since her arrest on April 28th, 2022 in Miami, along with her son Kadeem Maynard and former BVI Premier Andrew Fahie.

Representing Maynard, Public Defender Michael Caruso Documents filed documents today, May 5th, 2022 stating  that any contact with Maynard “must be made through the defendant’s lawyer.” 

Further adding, “The defendant does hereby invoke her rights to remain silent and to counsel with respect to any and all questioning or interrogation, regardless of the subject matter,” the court documents stated, asking that the “United States Attorney ensure that this invocation of rights is honoured, by forwarding a copy of it to all law enforcement agents, government officials, or employees associated with the investigation of any matters relating to the defendant.”
