ZERO CONFIDENCE IN WILLOCK AS SPEAKER – A FRESH START NEEDED

The recently formed National Unity Government had zero confidence in former Speaker Julian Willock leading the House of Assembly proceedings in their new journey as a unified front.

Premier and Minister of Finance Dr. the Honourable Natalio Wheatley made the assertion during a recent press conference after it was announced more than a week earlier that Willock’s resignation was requested.

He said it was only right to have a fresh start in the House of Assembly.

Premier Wheatley also revealed that a new Speaker will be sworn in at the next House of Assembly Sitting, which is scheduled for tomorrow Thursday, May 19.

Just days after the announcement of the resignation of Willock, reports of his replacement started to surface.

The reports suggest that Attorney Hakim Creque is poised to become the next Speaker in the territory.

284News reached out to Premier Wheatley to confirm whether the reports were indeed accurate, however, he said, “I cannot confirm or deny at the moment.”
