THE RECENT PROTESTS DO NOT FULLY REPRESENT THE PUBLIC’S VIEW ON UK DIRECT RULE

The two recent protests that were held by residents to show their position against the partial suspension of the territory’s Constitution are not a full representation of the BVI public.

Governor His Excellency John Rankin made the statement in a recent interview with 284Media.

He said that residents are entitled to protest and to their respective views, but noted that the two recent protests which were held outside his compound were relatively small in numbers and may not represent the views of the wider population.

Governor Rankin also noted that the overall consensus following interactions with some residents is that change is needed and should be undertaken with the help of the United Kingdom Government.
