GOVERNOR SAYS HE WAS UNAWARE OF THE DEA INVESTIGATIONS INTO FAHIE – SAYS NEWS CAME AS A SHOCK

Governor His Excellency John Rankin says he was not aware that United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents were in the territory during their time of investigating former Premier Andrew Fahie.

Following the arrest of Fahie in late April and the subsequent release of the Commission of Inquiry Report recommendations just one day after, many residents were of the opinion that the Governor and members of the United Kingdom Government had prior knowledge of the investigations that led to Fahie’s arrest.

Governor Rankin at a recent press conference put to rest such speculations after the question was posed by local media.

Governor Rankin was then asked if he knew of former Governor Augustus Jaspert having any prior knowledge of persons who were being investigated in relation to the former premier’s case.

The Governor was also asked whether local authorities will be conducting investigations into some of the persons identified in the affidavits that were released following the arrest of Andrew Fahie.

Specific mention was made to Government Official 1 and the Governor was asked if he knew the identity of this individual.
