MALONE NOT IN FAVOUR OF FAHIE BEING ALLOWED TO JOIN HOA REMOTELY

The newest member of Her Majesty’s Loyal Opposition Honourable Carvin Malone has stated that he is not in favour of allowing the former Premier Andrew Fahie to join the House of Assembly sessions virtually from the United States.

Malone’s comments came in response to a question posed by 284News at a recent press conference, where he was asked whether he would support such a motion.

The Territorial at Large Representative said other than the special circumstances which led to virtual sittings during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, such a practice has never been done in the history of the BVI.

He said the traditional standard for holding House of Assembly sittings in the BVI should be upheld.

Malone also gave his opinion on the three strike rule which in summary states that if an elected Member misses three consecutive sittings in the House of Assembly without reasonable notice, they will automatically omit their seat.
