WADE SMITH, COMMISSIONER OF HER MAJESTY’S CUSTOMS PLACED ON ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE

Multiple sources have confirmed to our newsroom that Mr. Wade Smith, Commissioner of Her Majesty’s Customs has been placed on administrative leave effective immediately.

The reason behind his sudden leave placement is not known, however, within the past weeks since the release of the Commission of Inquiry Report, other senior members of the government were also placed on leave.

Smith, who has served as the Commissioner of Customs for over 20 years, resigned from his post to contest the 2019 general elections under the Progressive Virgin Islands Party in the 5th District. He was unsuccessful.
