LEARN FROM THE PAST…BE FIRE SAFE – 2022

Chief Fire Officer Zebalon Mclean is cautioning residents to let fire safety remain a priority in their homes, schools and at work as the Territory observes Fire Safety Week from October 2 to 8.

Chief Mclean said, ““Persons are aware that many fires have been caused when stoves and ovens are not monitored; when faulty components are not replaced; overloading outlets; leaving heat producing components plugged in or turned on, or neglecting to regularly service vehicles.”

 The Chief Fire Officer said several activities including a friendly volley ball match between Public Officers and a safety awareness quiz for school children. The public is invited to play domino, cards and other games with officers at the Fire Service headquarters. This year’s theme for Fire Safety Awareness Week is: ‘Learn From The Past; Be Careful What You Do; Be Fire Safe – 2022. The public is invited to participate in the activities from Sunday, October 2.
