Defending champions Sugar Boys FC continued their unbeaten ways in the BVI Football Association’s Men’s National League over the weekend with a 4-2 victory over Panthers FC.

Playing at the East End stadium on Saturday, October 29, Sugar Boys conceded their first goal in the 15th minute after Panthers’ Irwin Lewis converted.

The defending champs responded in quick fashion with a hat trick of goals within the first half courtesy of Andres Bailey in the 27th, Clint St. Hilaire in the 37th and Alejandro Sanchez in the 45th.

Romaine Henry then sealed the deal for Sugar Boys in the 80th minute to make the score 4-1 before Jhon Samuel of Panthers scored a consolation goal just five minutes later to make the final score 4-2.

Captain Derol Redhead spoke after the win as his team now is the only one in the league with a 100 percent win record.

“It wasn’t one of our best performances…We got the win but could have scored more and have plenty of areas to improve upon. We will do whatever it takes to stay on top of the league and know the other teams will be coming hard at us, so we will work on staying focused and mentally fit,” Redhead stated.

One Love Utd victorious.

Also enjoying a win over the weekend was One Love United which defeated Lion Heart FC 2-1.

Meanwhile, the only draw this weekend occurred in the matchup between Wolues FC and VG United.

Wolues, having changed their formation took the lead in the 65th minute through Carl Morgan, but a last-gasp free kick by Jaden Abrams secured a share of the points for VG United in the third minute of added time as the match finished 2-2.
