$2.4 MILLION ALLOCATED TO ADDRESS SOCIOECONOMIC NEEDS OF THE BVI

Some $2.4 million has been allocated to Ministry of Social Development to address many of the socioeconomic needs that have been plaguing the territory.

Minister responsible Hon. Marlon Penn made the disclosure during a recent House of Assembly sitting.

Penn revealed that the $2.4 million allocation is a huge increase from the approximately $500,000 that was allocated in the previous budget.

To address the Social Development Department’s present public relations dilemma, Minister Penn said an aggressive public relations outreach campaign will be launched early this year.

He said it will go into a number of communities to inform persons on the proper protocols to apply for the respective assistance.
