MORE PRIVATE-PUBLIC PARTNERSHIPS NEEDED IN THE BVI

Minister for Health and Social Development Hon. Marlon Penn believes that more private-public partnerships are needed in the territory.

He made the comment while appearing as a guest on local show Talking Points.

Penn said that a move in such a direction would not only ease the financial burden placed on the government, but it would also see more projects being completed at a much faster rate once executed in a proper manner.

Penn also spoke on the bureaucratic structure of the government which he said oftentimes makes it difficult to get projects completed.

Touching on the Red Bay Dock re-expansion project within his district, Penn said a private-public partnership is intended for the fisheries section of the project as part of the existing plans.

This he said will include the fishermen having operational control of the dock on a daily basis.
