TOURIST BOARD’s MAIN OFFICE CLOSED DUE TO MOULD – SMELL PROMPTED DISCOVERY

The issue of mould continues to impact buildings across the territory with the BVI Tourist Board and Film Commission the most recent statutory agency to be affected.

The Tourist Board issued a bulletin on Tuesday, January 24, informing residents that their main office will be closed to the general public indefinitely.

284News spoke to the Director of Tourism Mr. Clive McCoy who explained why management took swift action to close the office and work remotely following the discovery.

McCoy also revealed what led to the discovery of the mould.

When asked how soon before the office reopens, McCoy said a date could not be disclosed at the moment until a full assessment has been completed.

However, he assured residents that as soon as the issue is rectified a notice will be sent out to the public.

As a result of the closure, persons who are to collect cheques, certificates and other documents from the BVI Tourist Board and Film Commission will now have to do so from Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at their Waterfront location at the Road Town Ferry Terminal.
