POLICE OPERATION ON FRIDAY RESULTED IN THE SEIZURE OF A FIREARM, AMMUNITION AND SEVERAL MOTOR SCOOTERS

Members of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) were busy on Friday after conducting several stops and searches, which resulted in two males being charged, 96 traffic tickets issued and 10 scooters detained.

This was confirmed in a media release from the RVIPF on Sunday, which listed the two males charged as Akeem Robinson of West End and Johnoi Frank of Horespath who were charged for separate incidents.

34-year-old Robinson was charged with carrying an illegal firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition while 19-year-old Frank was charged for failing to stop at the request of police among other traffic offences.

“Ten other persons were reported for various traffic violations, 96 tickets were issued, and ten motor scooters were detained,” the RVIPF added.

Speaking on the success of the team, Head of the Armed Response Team Acting Chief Inspector Dean Robin said it was as a result of his team’s continued surveillance work targeting suspects and suspected areas.

He warned that such operations will continue territory-wide and appealed to residents who have “witnessed or have any knowledge of firearms being discharged or any firearm-related information to call the anonymous Crime Tips line 800-8477 or the RVIPF Intelligence Unit at 368-9339.”
