WATER SUPPLY RESTORED FOLLOWING DISRUPTIONS IN ROADTOWN AND SURROUNDING AREAS

The Water and Sewerage Department has confirmed the resumption of water supply to Road Town and surrounding areas following a restoration of the water distribution network’s power service.

Acting Director Mr. Brian Davis said “The plant is back online, however water levels were completely depleted.  To restore levels, a hard distribution shutdown was done to restore tanks equalising storage levels.  A leak detection exercise was also done to pinpoint the major leak that impacted Road Town and the surrounding areas.”

Residents were reportedly left without water due to power outages that affected the distribution plant over the weekend, and the discovery of a leak in the Road Town area.

The Acting Director thanked customers and residents for their patience and understanding during the disruptions, adding that the department remains committed to providing potable and reliable water service to the Virgin Islands.

The Department of Water and Sewerage seeks to ensure the provision of a continuous supply of potable water to all residents of the Virgin Islands.  Persons can contact the department’s telephone numbers, 468-9213/468-9860 East; 499-2924/499-0500 Road Town and Central; and 499-2620 West.
