PUBLIC WORKS DEPT. MOBILIZES IN ANTICIPATION OF HEAVY RAINS

In light of a weather alert for an approaching frontal trough system, the Public Works Department has mobilized crews to monitor and prepare for potential flooding and storm impacts.

Minister for Communications and Works Hon.Kye Rymer said the Public Works Department has activated its emergency response team. Crews are inspecting waterways and ghuts across the territory proactively before any heavy rain arrives.

Although Rymer noted that recent maintenance after Tropical Storm Phillipe left infrastructure in satisfactory condition, he urged residents to still take precautions to protect themselves and property.

Public Works Director Jeremy Hodge said responders have been assigned to monitor all districts. They will check water flows and recommend any preventative actions needed if excessive rains come.

While the exact impacts are unpredictable, Hodge said Public Works will have crews ready to respond. He advised residents to report any hazardous road debris or boulders immediately to aid quick cleanup.
