VG UTD MAINTAINS 4-POINT LEAD IN LEAGUE STANDINGS WITH UNBEATEN RECORD

Virgin Gorda United recorded its fifth straight win in the BVI Football Association’s National Football League after handing Old Madrid FC a 7-0 thrashing, replicating their previous performance against Lion Heart FC.

Playing at the Greenland Football Field on Sunday, February 9, VG’s Joel Mars netted a quadruple while teammate Jaadon Quashie had a hat-trick to give their side the comprehensive victory. Quashie’s performance gives him an overall tally of 12 goals so far for the season.

In the previous game played also at Greenland, Wolues FC showed their intentions of title contention this season, defeating One Love FC 6-1. Leo Forte and Noel Maxwell both scored two goals each while Phil Nelson and Marcus Robinson converted the remaining goals.

Over at the Virgin Gorda Recreation Ground, Sugar Boys FC slid into fourth place just behind the Islanders FC with an 11-0 demolition of Positive FC.

Alejandro Sanchez scored a quadruple, Aron Jules two, while Leonard Davis, Michael Castello, and Akeem Hendrikson each scored a goal. There were also a couple of own-goals thrown in for good measure.

Meanwhile, in the Saturday game, Lion Heart FC overcame a tenacious Rebels FC 2-1 as a brace from Janel Ferdinand on either side of a Curtly Peters strike handed them all three points.

Games continue this weekend with One Love FC up against Panthers FC on Saturday, February 10 at 8:30 p.m., followed by a Sunday game between VG United and Sugar Boys at 7:00 p.m. Both games are scheduled for the Greenland Football Field with the latter game to be televised on CCT Live Channel 284.
