RDA COMPLETES LAW ENFORCEMENT MARINE BASE

The Virgin Islands Recovery and Development Agency (RDA) has achieved another milestone with the successful completion of the Virgin Islands Law Enforcement Marine Base. This major infrastructure project will enhance safety, security and border protection capabilities in the Territory.

Funded jointly by the Virgin Islands Government and the UK Government, the newly rebuilt Marine Base will serve as a centralized command and operations center for the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force, His Majesty’s Customs and the Immigration Department.

The state-of-the-art facility will enable coordinated monitoring of marine ports of entry, promote inter-agency communication and intelligence sharing, and facilitate a more secure border environment overall.

RDA CEO Anthony McMaster lauded the project team’s “hard work, expertise and unwavering dedication” that allowed the Marine Base to be delivered on time and to the highest standards.

“This project exemplifies our commitment to delivering exceptional results while upholding integrity, safety and environmental responsibility,” McMaster stated. He commended lead contractor James Todman Construction Ltd. for their “dedication instrumental in the project’s success.”

The Marine Base is a critical component of the RDA’s work under the “Security and Safety for All” subsector aimed at strengthening law enforcement capabilities as outlined in the Territory’s Recovery to Development Plan.

Deputy Governor’s Office representatives expressed satisfaction after an official walkthrough of the completed facility on April 5th. As the main client ministry, they will now take over operational control.

The project’s completion marks the culmination of a collaborative effort involving the RDA, the Deputy Governor’s Office, design consultants Trojan Design and Development Limited, and various stakeholders.

Since its 2018 establishment, the RDA has spearheaded recovery and development initiatives across multiple sectors through infrastructural investments jointly funded by theVI Government and the UK. To date, 43 projects have been completed.

The Agency’s mandate was recently extended to December 2026, allowing it to continue this development partnership and pursue the overarching vision of “Building a Stronger, Smarter, Greener and Better Virgin Islands.”
