BVI ATHLETES SHINE IN INTERNATIONAL MEETS AHEAD OF CARIFTA 2025

British Virgin Islands athletes continue to impress on the international and regional stage, delivering standout performances in recent meets and solidifying the Territory’s growing presence in athletics.

Hurdler Deya Erickson delivered a strong showing at the Florida Relays, advancing to the finals after clocking 13.46 seconds in the 100m hurdles heats. She improved her time in the finals, finishing 5th overall with 13.44 seconds, demonstrating consistency and competitiveness among a strong field.

Sprinter Tyreese James claimed 1st place at the Wartburg Outdoor Meet with a commanding finish in the 100m dash. James crossed the line in 10.49 seconds, securing a well-deserved gold medal and continuing to show excellent form early in the season.

High jumper Jah’Kyla Morton has become the 14th BVI athlete to qualify for the 2025 Carifta Games, following her 1.74m clearance at the Dag Samuels Development Meet #7, known as the Carifta Warm-Up.

This marks Morton’s fourth consecutive Carifta Games qualification, adding to her impressive résumé that includes a silver medal in the High Jump at the 2023 Carifta Games. Her consistent performances continue to position her as one of the Territory’s leading young athletes.

As the road to Carifta 2025 continues, BVI’s athletic stars are proving that hard work and dedication are paving the way for podium finishes.
