CIBC CARIBBEAN SUPPORTS CREATIVE WAVES-SILVER SPONSORSHIP OF $10,000 CONTRIBUTION

CIBC Caribbean has proudly reaffirmed its commitment to community development and the arts with a $10,000 Silver Sponsorship of Creative Waves BVI.

The contribution from the bank and the bank’s ComTrust Foundation – the charitable arm responsible for the bank’s corporate social responsibility initiatives – was formally presented by CIBC Caribbean’s Head of Country, Fabian Devonish, to Creative Waves Founder, Sophie Stanton, during a presentation at the bank’s Tortola branch on April 29.

Creative Waves BVI is a dynamic local organization dedicated to inspiring and elevating the Virgin Islands community through the arts. The sponsorship will directly support their expanding programming, including exhibitions, workshops, and outreach initiatives.

“We are incredibly grateful for CIBC Caribbean’s continued support,” said Stanton. “Their generosity is instrumental in helping us realize our vision, including the opening of our new Creative Waves Arts Hub at Road Reef Plaza. This space will serve as a vibrant gallery and community arts center.”

As part of this partnership, CIBC Caribbean will also act as lead sponsor for the upcoming Women’s Show — a five-week group exhibition celebrating the work of local women artists. Alongside the show, a series of community-focused events will take place, including panel talks featuring well-known female figures from the BVI discussing relevant issues with participating artists, and artist-led workshops for both children and adults.

“At CIBC Caribbean, we are committed to supporting the community through initiatives that foster development, inclusion, and wellness throughout the Virgin Islands,” said Fabian Devonish, Head of Country. “Supporting Creative Waves is an opportunity to invest in the cultural life of the Virgin Islands and empower artists—especially women artists—to share their voices and visions.”

The bank’s sponsorship will further support events like the Performing Arts Festival on May 31 and arts-based community engagement initiatives.

Two “Sip & Paint for the Cure” events in June led by artists from the Women’s Show will officially launch the 2025 CIBC Caribbean Walk for the Cure Campaign, merging creative expression with cancer awareness and support.
