VI PROACTIVE ON FOOD SECURITY; TWO UPCOMING TRADE MISSIONS TO ST. MAARTEN AND DR

With the pause in tariffs by the United States and the exemption to Tropical Shipping by the US Government, the BVI would not be resting on its laurels according to Premier and Minister of Agriculture Dr. Natalio Wheatley.

Premier Wheatley has made it clear that apart from the efforts made locally to strengthen food security, government will be involved in two upcoming trade missions.

Speaking on the government organized programme ‘Virgin Islands Voice Wednesday evening the Premier said the first trade mission will be to St Maarten this Monday to have talks with that country’s government.

He said even though recent talks between China and the United States have resulted in a dramatic decrease in tariffs, the BVI cannot afford to rest on its laurels and just relax based on this good news”.

Premier Wheatley also spoke about an initiative taken recently, aimed at strengthening the relations between the BVI and Jamaica.
