On January 21st, 2025 Senior Magistrate Tamia Richards ruled “No Case to Answer” in the case against Sixth District Representative Hon. Myron Walwyn and former public servant Lorna Stevens in relation to the Elmore Stoutt High School Wall Project.
The ruling, delivered on Tuesday, January 21st, effectively cleared both Walwyn and Stevens of any wrongdoing in the high-profile case.
Immediately following the ruling, the Director of Public Prosecutions Tiffany Scatliffe filed an appeal against the magistrate’s decision.
Months after filing an appeal the DPP has now withdrawn her appeal. The withdrawal to appeal was presented in writing to the Eastern Supreme Court, Court of Appeal on May 30th, 2025 and stated the DPP’s desire to “discontinue the appeal filed January 22nd, 2025 against the decision made by her Honour Senior Magistrate Tamia Richards to uphold the submission of no case to answer and subsequently dismiss the complaints against respondents no complaints for the offence of Breach of Trust.”
Hon. Walwyn, who was represented by Attorney Terrance Williams, and Stevens, who was represented by Valston Graham, have maintained their innocence since charges were filed. The backpedal by the DPP once again vindicates both Walwyn and Stevens.
The DPP’s office has sought further legal action through the filing of a Judicial Review against Walwyn.
