“FINTECH ON THE SEAS” HIGHLIGHTS BVI’S COMMITMENT TO INNOVATION AND REGULATORY EXCELLENCE

Delegates to a Fintech on the Seas conference held in territory were told that for decades the Virgin Islands has been among the most secure, best regulated jurisdictions for international business.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Premier Dr. Natalio Wheatley said Fintech on the Seas is more than an event; it is statement of intent, it reflects the Virgin Islands’ unique value proposition: a seamless blend of breathtaking natural beauty, deep reservoirs of talent, and a bold, future-facing vision for global business.

Premier Wheatley said the territory has earned this reputation through legal certainty, regulatory integrity, and a steadfast commitment to excellence.

Junior Minister for Financial Services Lorna Smith OBE explained to delegates how the BVI is positioning itself to be at the heart of the global digital finance movement.

Smith says through tailored educational initiatives, the BVI is building a pipeline of talent equipped to guide and grow specialist digital asset businesses.

The Junior Financial Services Minister says technological change will not slow down. Nor should it. She says from artificial intelligence to tokenization, embedded finance to RegTech, the frontier continues to expand. Smith says the BVI embrace this change, and is already applying these technologies to areas such as compliance and financial crime prevention.
