BVIEC CREWS DEPLOYED AS OUTAGES HIT MULTIPLE COMMUNITIES

The BVI Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) has confirmed power outages across multiple communities on Tortola as Hurricane Erin brings deteriorating weather conditions to the Territory.

In a statement issued on Saturday afternoon, BVIEC reported that Horse Path, Hannah’s, Sea Cows Bay, and parts of East End are among the areas currently affected. The outages are being attributed to adverse weather conditions associated with Erin’s passage, which continues to impact the Virgin Islands with strong winds and intermittent heavy rain.

BVIEC said that emergency crews have been dispatched and are actively working to restore service, though restoration times will vary depending on the severity of the conditions and damage in each area.

“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience and understanding”, the statement added.

The BVIEC also urged all residents to prioritise safety as the storm continues to pass near the region. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
